Sichuan Technology and Business College is a full-time higher vocational college, founded by the People’s Government of Sichuan Province and under the charge of Sichuan Provincial Economic and Information Commission. Its predecessor was Sichuan Light Industry School founded in 1959. In April of 2001, it was upgraded to avocational college without merging other institutions. It is the only college that has specialized in light industries for over 60 years. The college is located in Dujiangyan City which is a world cultural heritage site, natural heritage site, irrigation project site, famous tourist destination, and famous historic and cultural city.
Since 1992, the college has been actively carrying out international exchange and cooperation. The college has cooperated with many international universities from many countries, like Canada, Japan, the United States, Germany, Singapore, Russia and Malaysia and so forth. The cooperation program includes Specialist Construction, Academic Communication, Faculty Training, Study Abroad and Scientific Research Cooperation. Additionally, actively responding to the "Belt and Road" initiative, the college has attracted about 300 international students from more than 10 countries along the “One Belt and One Road” routes such as Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia, training badly-needed constructors for Belt and Road countries and spreading light industry expertise with green concept in mind
There are over 640 teaching staff in the college, including 42 professors, 128 associate professors. Fifty seven of them are elected to different think tank. Fifty nine join in professional association and hold an appointment. Additionally, 32 scientific research experts, engineering technicians and other experts from enterprises and institutions are working as part-time professors in the college. The college takes the lead in establishing a teaching staff development center in Sichuan higher vocational colleges.
